BeakSpeak 2: The Dancing Chickens

When Chanticleer rooster shocks the students with ghost stories, and a nearby chicken processing business, he lays the groundwork for some major trouble!

With over-active imaginations and lack of sleep, the chickens feel ambushed when big men with large nets attempt to round them up.  Running for their lives, Walt takes charge and orders his chickens’ escape.

Unfortunately, some of them don’t make it out. So Walt must formulate a plan to rescue the captured, all while keeping the rest of his brood safe.

Join the BeakSpeak flock as they dodge coyotes, almost get picked off by a hungry chicken hawk, and come face to face with the weirdest, most peculiar situation ever:  Dancing Chickens!

BeakSpeak 3: Day of the Dead

Shocked to see the ranch-hand’s face painted like a skull, the BeakSpeak chickens race to school to ask why. That’s when Ms. Goldspeak guides them through an exciting adventure learning about Dia de los Muertos, the Mexican celebration.

Their reward is a cultural journey marked by Spanish phrases, cemeteries, spirits of their ancestors, confused terror and overwhelming joy. They learn to be brave, to rejoice in each other’s growth and dreams, and to believe miracles can happen when the stars align.

BeakSpeak 4: Fiesta Texas

In this action-packed adventure, the BeakSpeak chickens learn about Fiesta Texas. They throw flowers at the Battle of the Flowers Parade, Dance on the River, bull ride for Charreda, and get “lit up” at the Flamenco Parade.

Afterwards, someone gets carted off by a coyote & helped by a chicken whisper, while another gets to hatch some baby chicks!

The chickens will experience countless of adventures that children of all ages will enjoy.

BeakSpeak 5: Cajun French & Paris Connection

A Crawfish Boil leads to a lesson on the French War and the migration of the Acadian people who settled in south Louisiana and became known as the Cajuns. This led the chickens on a field trip to New Orleans, to partake in some famous Cajun cuisine, enjoy a bayou festival and practice their newly learned French vocabulary.

Later, with a formal invitation to Paris for a very special family event, Peggy decides to bring the BeakSpeak group with her. They explore the grand city, the famous food and the historical sites with some chicken hi-jinks of course.

This action-packed story is full of history, dissension, celebration and of course, the French Connection.

A perfect book for teachers & home-school parents

This is a perfect book for teachers and home-school parents to present to their classes and students. As the students read through the pages, the enclosed questions can be asked directly after reading that page or at the end of the story. It is designed to get the conversation started so the students can discuss how the chickens should be more specific when they are speaking. This will in-turn help to eliminate bias and stereotypes. There are even suggested answers which can also be brought into the discussion to include ideas that the students and/or teachers haven’t discovered.
